Where In The World Is Rusty The Dog?

Welcome to my spiffy new blog. We're still transferring over some of my oldest posts, which can be found at the old site. In the meantime, I plan to update much more often. Considering my last entry was almost a year ago, that shouldn't be too hard! It's been quite a year, full of ups and downs. That may be putting it mildly. In January, my dear doggy sister Cosette died. She was 17 and lived a good, full life.

It's been hard and we all miss her terribly. We have added to the family since then, but I'll save that for another time.

I haven't been around here much. My mom and dad went away for awhile. They got home and then my mom's computer has been having a lot of problems. It's better now and we're getting caught up on things online. I hope to visit everyone soon. Thank you for all of your comments on the entry below!

Sunny Day

It was a beautiful, sunny day today. We played in the back yard and my mom took some photos. I was really nervous earlier because my mom and dad were packing suitcases, but only dad left. My mom said he'll be back in just a few days, so that's a good thing.

Cosette is in a cone right now because she had some minor surgery last week. She's feeling okay, but is getting annoyed with that silly collar. Hopefully, she will get to stop wearing it soon.

On a final note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my aunt Dianna. I used to get to visit with her, but she moved really far away. I do miss her, but I hear she has cats now, so I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Update 01/16/05: Cosette got her sutures removed today and got to take her cone off! I've been kissing her a lot!

Where Are Mom and Dad?

They've left us again! They went away a couple of weekends ago and now they are gone again. Luckily, my buddy Ren is taking good care of us, but it is lonely. Here's a photo Ren took with her camera and sent to my mom:


My eyes look kind of funny, but I think that's the light. I just miss my mom and dad!

Evening Walk

The whole pack went on a nice long walk tonight. Yep, all 5 of us, my mom and dad, Cosette, Little Guy, and me. It was a good time. Perfect weather and lots of great smells along the way. I sure did work up an appetite!

Last night my mom and dad had a party in the backyard, but we weren't invited. We had to stay indoors. I would've liked to have visited with some of my friends, but it was a "no dogs" affair. There was lots of popcorn and other treasures we found in the yard today though!

I'm Back!

Well, honestly, I never went anywhere, but my mom did. She went on two back-to-back trips and has not been around to help me with the computer. I'm missed her so much and she only came home last Wednesday for a short time, switched out her suitcase and was out the door again! And the second time she took my dad with her too!

Us doggies survived, thanks to our good buddy Cheryl who fed us and gave us lots of nice petting. I'm just glad everyone is home now. It sure was nice to have the humans in the bed again last night.

P.S. Little Guy is doing much better and doesn't have to wear his cone anymore.

Busy Weekend

My mom was off today. It was beautiful and sunny and we did spend some time in the back yard. We also napped.

My dad is out of town. I miss snuggling with him in the morning. My mom has to work tomorrow. Sunday is the mutts-only dog show I'll be in. It was a lot fun last year (even though I didn't win anything).

Happy Birthday To Me!

I'm 5 years old today. I came to live with my mom, dad, Cosette, and Little Guy four years ago today. I'm not sure if we will be celebrating later when my mom gets home from work, but I hope so. Last night we all went for a nice long walk together.

It's so cold and rainy here in California. AND my mom and dad went away for a few days, so there were no warm humans to snuggle with at night.

Thanks to our buddy K. though who took really good care of us. She took some photos, so maybe if she emails some to my mom, we can post one or two here. (hint, hint)

Happy Birthday Little Guy!

Today is my best buddy and big brother's birthday! Little Guy is 8 years old today!

Oh yeah, and it's my mom's birthday too today! 

Where Are My Whiskers?

Well, the good news is my mom is home! She got home yesterday. We won't discuss how she came home, hugged and petted us, and went right back out again for a long time. But, she is home today, emptying the bags she brought back.

My mom and dad noticed that my longest whiskers from the left side of my face are suddenly missing! I don't even know what happened. My mom thinks a bird or something go to me, but no, I don't think so! I'm quicker than that! So, just waiting to see if they grow back. Very strange!

I'm heading back to the fan. It is so hot here...still!

P.S. My mom wasn't able to get us souvenirs, so she bought some special beef dinner for us last night!

***I didn't lose my whiskers in the fan. It's up on a table. I lie on my mom's bed and catch the breeze, but I can't get anywhere near it!***

My mom's going away for several days. She's been home a lot recently, but she's been very busy working on a "project." I'll post when she gets home.

A Sunday Outing

I got to go on an outing today with my mom and dad. We went to Venice Beach, walked on the boardwalk, and shopped for cheap sunglasses (for them, not me!) There were so many people and dogs! My mom carried me part of the way because it was very crowded and she was worried I would get stepped on, rolled on, or bicycled on! There were so many good smells between all of the food stands and the ocean.

After our walk, we stopped so my mom and dad could get some dinner. I got some doggie treats while they ate and met some more dogs. Here's a photo of me hanging out while they were getting some food:

Little Guy and Cosette had to stay home, but they each got nice walks after we got home.

They're Back!

My mom and dad went out of town for 4 days, but came home Sunday night. Our buddy, Cheryl, took good care of us while they were away. But we were 3 excited dogs when they came in!
