I'm still around! Apologies for not updating more regularly. I'm 9 years old now and still working as a Therapy Dog. In fact, I went to an event yesterday and got to meet two very famous mice!
I don't have time to write much, but I worked yesterday at a very special event. We had to drive a ways, but we ended up at this beautiful camp full of really friendly and smiling kids. The kids are all "sick," with things like cancer, but you'd never really know it. They were having so much fun! My therapy dog friends and I got lots of petting and hugs.
Being a Therapy Dog means that I often get to participate in some pretty special events. This past weekend I got to hang out with the kids participating in Snowball Express. Children who have lost parents in military action were flown in from all over the country for a weekend of fun events in Southern California. I was happy to be there and give lots of hugs. They hugged and petted me and some of the Moms and Dads said, "Thank you. The dogs were my kids' favorite thing here today." I posed for a lot of photos and brought smiles to a lot of faces that haven't had much to smile about lately.
It's been a long time since I've done any Therapy Dog work, but I got to make a special visit this past weekend. I went to a woman's home. She's been very sick and her daughter thought I would cheer her up. She petted me and kept saying what a good dog I am. I did seem to help brighten her mood, which is a good thing. Hopefully, I'll get back to working more regularly real soon.
