Back To Work!
It's been a long time since I've done any Therapy Dog work, but I got to make a special visit this past weekend. I went to a woman's home. She's been very sick and her daughter thought I would cheer her up. She petted me and kept saying what a good dog I am. I did seem to help brighten her mood, which is a good thing. Hopefully, I'll get back to working more regularly real soon.

Everyone Loves A Parade
Each November, I get to go to the Doo Dah Parade in Pasadena. It's lots of fun. It was a sunny day, so I wore my beach hat. Here are a couple of photos that my mom took:

Happy (Belated) Birthday To Cosette!
My big sister, Cosette, turned 14 years old yesterday! We played together in the back yard this weekend and tonight we had some special treats to celebrate. I love Cosette so much!

Mountain Getaway
This weekend we went to the mountains! It was really nice, but a little cold at night. We stayed with a friend at his cabin and my mom says we were all well-behaved. I enjoyed taking a nice long walk to the lake in the clean, fresh mountain air. I hope we get to go there again. It was fun!

I woke up in a good mood today. I was grinning from ear to ear and wagging my tail in a big circle! My dad took me outside to meet a big dog who came over to visit for a few minutes. That was lots of fun. It's really hot here again though, so we didn't stay outside too long.
My mom is so weird! She took pictures of me posing with a container of salt! I was kind of offended and tried to get away, but she kept insisting.

It's The Heat
I've been neglecting my blog here and I blame it on the heat! (or my mom! ) It's been really, really hot and I just haven't felt like doing much of anything. Luckily, we have started to get a little bit of a break and yesterday evening, my mom and dad took me to the dog park!
The dog park we went to was new to me and very nice. It's pretty big with lots of trees and somewhat hilly terrain. Lots of big dogs were running and chasing, while I was content to sniff and explore. My mom decided I should try out the area designated for "small and timid dogs." Just so you know, I was the biggest little dog in there!
I made a buddy named Fred. He is a tiny, goofy pom who like jumping back and forth over me! So silly. There were a couple of other dogs in there too and we ran and chased each other quite a bit. When it was time to go, I wanted to stay and keep playing.
I hope anyone reading this is finding a way to stay cool and enjoy their summer!

DogFest
Last weekend, my mom and dad took me to Dog Fest, a film festival featuring dog-related short films. It was held on a big grassy area in a local park with a big inflatable screen. There were a lot of people on blankets and in beach chairs with their dogs. It was so much fun! All of us canines had to stay on our leashes, which made it difficult to play and wrestle, but I still tried.

It's Just So Hot!
I know I haven't updated in awhile. There isn't much news to report. It has gotten very hot here in Southern California, so I've been spending a lot of my days lounging in front of a fan. I get more energetic as it cools down some, but even the nights have been warm. The lazy, dog days of summer have arrived!
Two of my mom and dad's friends just moved to the area and they visited the other night. They stayed with us before and both give the greatest massages!
I got a new toy that looks like a corn cob that's been partially eaten. My mom and dad laugh when I run around with it in my mouth. My mom would love to get a photo of me with it to post on here, but I've hidden it so she can't find it.
Last night, the hamster was out rolling around in his plastic ball. I know he's trying to steal my chew toys, so I run away. Plus, I don't like it when he rolls over my tail.

Not An Acceptable Plaything
I found a dead baby possum in the back yard the other night. Mom and Dad were out, Cosette and Little Guy were in their crates, and I was bored. So, I brought it in. Once I had it in the house though, I didn't really want to play with it anymore.
My Mom was kind of freaked out when she got home and saw the thing on the floor. I was acting weird too, not sure what to do. Dad brought in a shovel and it got put into a garbage bag and taken who knows where. Then my Mom was scrubbing and spraying the carpet like crazy!
Whenever my parents go out, they used to say "Rusty, guard the mansion," (not that we have a mansion...), but now it's more like: "Rusty, NO DEAD BABY POSSUMS!"
I guess I know what NOT to get my Mom for Mother's Day!

Nuts For Mutts
I had a great time on Sunday at the Nuts for Mutts mixed-breed only dog show. I've competed in the past, but just went to watch this year. My buddy, Hidalgo, came along too and we had so much fun! It was a really hot and sunny day, but Hidalgo and I did wrestle a little. I also got some doggie beef jerky from a nice lady.

Well, I sort of "met" the hamster, Ami. My mom brought her out in her rolling, plastic ball. Kind of freaked me out. I was fine, chewing on my bone, and then that little rodent rolled right over to me! So, I ran into the other room. She found me a few more times, but I was really worried that she would somehow steal my bone. No way! I'm not letting that happen!

Happy Spring!
The days are getting longer. Unfortunately, we've had a lot of rain lately, but soon we should be able to take evening trips to the dog park and take some nice long walks.
I did go on an outing to a pet store with my mom the other day. It was fun, but she mostly bought stuff for her "other" pet...that darn hamster! I did get a new toy though, which was my belated birthday present.
Now back to sniffing dandelions and chasing squirrels (in between storms!)

I Don't Know Where I've Been
So, my mom and I have not been keeping up on this blog lately. We have no good excuses. My mom did get a new camera, so here are a few photos she's taken.

I haven't been around here much. My mom and dad went away for awhile. They got home and then my mom's computer has been having a lot of problems. It's better now and we're getting caught up on things online. I hope to visit everyone soon. Thank you for all of your comments on the entry below!

Sunny Day
It was a beautiful, sunny day today. We played in the back yard and my mom took some photos. I was really nervous earlier because my mom and dad were packing suitcases, but only dad left. My mom said he'll be back in just a few days, so that's a good thing.
Cosette is in a cone right now because she had some minor surgery last week. She's feeling okay, but is getting annoyed with that silly collar. Hopefully, she will get to stop wearing it soon.
On a final note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my aunt Dianna. I used to get to visit with her, but she moved really far away. I do miss her, but I hear she has cats now, so I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Update 01/16/05: Cosette got her sutures removed today and got to take her cone off! I've been kissing her a lot!
